Dog vehicles for Guide Dogs
10 January 2019
We are extremely proud of our brand new Peugeot Expert panel van conversions which have been designed and built in house at James Alpe!
We have been working closely with Guide Dogs For The Blind https://www.guidedogs.org.uk for almost two years. We were tasked with coming up with a solution for their vehicle replacement programme for vans to carry up to 8 dogs. We engaged with various Guide Dogs employees and volunteers to develop a solution which would be workable, practical, cost effective but most importantly take in dog welfare.
The finished product is about to be rolled out at various Guide Dogs across the UK and we are hoping that they are as pleased with the product as we are. Guide Dogs For The Blind have over 400 operational vehicles across the UK and expect longevity from all these vehicles. Our kennels are designed and built with this in mind and we are confident that they will exceed the required lifespan.
The concept includes four large kennels to accommodate up to 8 dogs. Emergency escape hatches, matting, ventilation, temperature monitoring the in the kennel systems and CCTV to allow the vehicle drivers to monitor activity in the kennels when the vehicle is stationary.
James Alpe fulfilled the ‘one stop shop’ brief by also applying the livery to the outside of the vehicles.
